Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

At the start of the 2002/2003 season, Tulse Hill Hockey Club, Dulwich Women's Hockey Club and Dulwich Men's Hockey Club merged to form a single club - Tulse Hill & Dulwich Hockey Club.

Our clubhouse is based at Dulwich Sports Club on Burbage Road, SE24 (on the edge of Dulwich Village) and we offer teams covering almost all abilities. Eight women's sides (including Indoor & Vets teams), seven men's sides, Academy (junior) sides from U6 to U18 and three mixed sides including the world famous Dragons. Both the Mens & Womens 1s play in the South Leagues. The Women play in Div 2 and, since gaining promtion in 2007/08, the Men play in Div 1. The Women won the HA Trophy in the 2006/07 season. The remainder of the women play in the Surrey Leagues and the men in the Higgins Group London Leagues.

Home fixtures are played on the sand based astro-turf pitches located at Dulwich College (DC), James Allen's Girls' School (JAGS), Crystal Palace National Sports Centre (CPB) & Harris Academy (HA). The Academy fixtures are played at Alleyn's School (AL).

Where do you play?

We play at four locations. Dulwich College, James Allen's Girls' School, Crystal Palace National Sports Centre & Harris Academy (Merton). All our games are played on sand based astros. All venues are within 15 minutes drive of the clubhouse and maps/directions can be found in the Clubhouse section.

Where's your clubhouse?

Our clubhouse is based on the edge of Dulwich Village/Herne Hill, just off Burbage Road. See maps. We share our clubhouse with the squash, tennis, croquet and cricket sections. Hot teas are always served back at the clubhouse after games.

How many teams do you have?

We have 8 men's sides (inc. Vets), 8 women's sides (inc. Vets & Indoor), two mixed sides and a number of academy (junior) sides which cover most abilities. Both the mens 1s and womens 1s play in the South Leagues. The remaining mens sides play at all levels of the London League and the women play at all levels of the Surrey League.

I can't play every week, is that a problem?

Although the "senior" teams tend to have people who play every week, some people can't commit to every Saturday so end up playing maybe 2 or 3 weeks out of four. There are some people who play even less.

I would like to play but haven't played for a while.

Not a problem - we cater for most abilities and a lot of people come to us who haven't played since school or Uni. We have also taken on complete beginners in the past.

What are your subs?

THD operates a standing order system. This covers subs, match fees (including teas) and training fees paid in a number of payments across the season. Our subs are easily comparable to other clubs across south London but we are one of the few clubs that offers you the chance to do everything by standing order rather than a big upfront fee and a match fee every week. Discounts are available for students, school children and the unemployed. For further details, see fees.

How do I get kit?

We play in red shirts with green shoulders/trim, blue skirts/shorts and red/green hooped socks. Kit is co-ordinated centrally and we have other Tulse Hill & Dulwich branded clothing available. For more details, check the kit page section.
