They think its all over...

...but its not quite all finished. The Tornados are still to play in their Play-Off Semi-Final & the Saracens still have one more league fixture to complete.

However, there were a few teams in action this weekend with re-arranged games to complete. The Womens had both the 1s & 3s in action - unfortunately both lost quite heavily. Elsewhere, the news wasn't much better with the M3s & Royals both losing their matches too. There was some good news though as the M1s beat Banbury 3-2 & the Saracens managed a 1-1 draw away to Hampstead & Westminster.

There was no action for the mixed teams this weekend with the Dragons having completed all their fixtures and the other mixed team not playing in the HA Plate for a couple of weeks.

Tornados & Womens 2s lead the way...

The much anticipated Diamonds vs. Tornados clash this weekend went according to type on Saturday with the Tornados running out 3-0 winners. The Womens 2s won a vital clash with Richmond to ensure that their relegation fears are abated.

Elsewhere the news was not so good... every other team in the club lost on Saturday. Some teams lost by a solitary goal but others lost by the odd five!

Unfortunately the Dragons' match on Sunday was cancelled. However, the Mens 3s played a re-arranged fixture against St Albans. The match was very tight but the visitors just edged it over the 70 mins winning 2-1 in normal time and then scoring an additional goal from a penalty corner.

Womens 4s continue to march up the table...

Another resounding win sees the Womens 4s edge ever closer to the promotion places. A 4-0 win on Sat made it six wins from seven in 2010. The Mens 1s also crushed their opposition 7-0 in the first part of their weekend's double header.

Good news in the Mens Section for both the M3s & the Tornados who beat their respective Old Loughts opposition 3-2, while the Royals ran out 5-2 winners against Richmond. No wins for the 2s, Diamonds or Saracens this weekend as they were each turned over by their opponents.

A great win for the Womens 2s saw them inch towards safety in their division. The 3s convincingly beat Cheam by five goals to no reply. Unfortunately each of the 1s, 5s & 6s lost their encounters.

There was no action for the Dragons but they return next week at Battersea Park against Spencer. However, the Mens 1s played a re-arranged fixture against Purley Walcs but they were unable to produce the same form as Saturday and ended up losing 1-6.

Mens 2s romp sees safety...

The Mens 2s thrashing of East Grinstead 8-2 means that they will definitely be playing hockey in LHL Div 1 again next season. The scoreline was particularly impressive as EGs led 2-1 at the break, however 6 unanswered goals saw all the points go to THD.

Elsewhere in the Mens section, another loss for the Mens 1s leaves them increasingly likely to have to take part in the end of season play-offs to maintain their presence in South Div 1. The Diamonds eased their releagation worries with a 5-0 tonking of Richmond Stags but the Royals lost by a solitary goal against Hampstead & Westminster. The Tornados suffered an uncharacteristic 1-7 loss while neither the 3s nor the Saracens had a game.

The Womens section saw wins for the 1s and 6s. However, the 2s look increasingly likely to be relegated with another loss at the weekend. The 3s & 5s also lost, whereas the 4s game was cancelled.

The Dragons match against Spencer ended honours even at 3-3 on Sunday.

More draws as season end draws closer...

As the season draws close to the end it was another weekend full of draws for THD. The Womens 1s earned a draw with the last flick of ball. Unfortunately the Mens 1s drew too as they were undone by a flurry of late goals from Brighton & Hove. A lacklustre Tornados performance saw them draw 2-2, while the Womens 2s got their first point in Feb with a draw against Woking.

Other matches in the Mens Section saw the 3s destroy an awful Teddington side 5-1, with two of the goals absolutely gifted to THD by defensive calamities. The 2s lost narrowly in their annual drunken pilgrimage to Oxford Uni. In Division 7, both the Royals & Saracens lost to their opposition. The Diamonds were on a rest week.

The Womens Section saw both great wins and heavy defeasts this week. With the 4s & 6s recording impressive wins against their respective oppositions. The 3s and 5s both lost by a four goal margin.

There was no action for the Dragons but they return next week at Battersea Park against Spencer.

Mens 2s turn on class and turn up heat...

A full program in the Mens Section but a reduced program in the Womens Section saw THD take 9pts from a possible 27. Highlights were the Mens 2s win over Hampstead & Westminster and the Tornados return to winning ways against Blackheath Heathens.

The remaining games in the Mens Section saw the 1s lose 4-1 away to Oxford Uni & the Diamonds soundly beaten 6-1 away to league leaders Spencer. The heated inter-club clash ended honours even with both the Royals and the Saracens managing a goal each. The 3s away game was postponed due to a double booked pitch.

Only three matches took place in the Womens Section this week. The 1s only managed a draw which was, unfortunately, more due to appalling umpiring than a lack of effort from the team. However the 2s slipped up away in a must win relegation battle against OKs - leaving them with a real fight to stay up. The 3s squandered and early lead with a few minutes of madness and turned 1-0 into 1-8! The other womens sides were on a rest week.

Sunday saw an epic battle between the Dragons and Wanderers Daquiris - both with very strong sides out. THD just edged it to walk away as 5-4 winners.

Diamonds shine in the gloom...

The Diamonds shone out amongst the rest of the teams this weekend with a 2-0 win against relegations rivals - a win that moves them into relative safety with the three teams below them all on 5 points left.

In the Mens Section there was little else to cheer with three draws which included the 2s with a scratch bare 11 away to Chelmsford, the 3s struggling to convert a host of chances & the Torndaos throwing away a 3-0 half time lead. However, all these results were a point gained compared with both the 1s & Saracens who lost. The Royals game was postponed.

Only one game in the Womens section this weekend due to the half term break. Unfortunately, the one result saw the W1s lose by a narrow margin to Torjans.

The Dragons were in action today against a very strong UCL Academicals side at Battersea Park - three goals in the first half to UCl won the game and despite a multitude of chances in the 2nd half the Dragons just couldn't convert.

Tornados turn it on...

Recent weeks saw THD team pulverize their opposition with multiple goals - this week was the turn of the Tornados - who put 4 past a hapless Wimbledon! The Mens 2s also recorded yet another win to ease their relegation fees significantly.

Unfortunately the other results in the Mens section weren't so positive with the 1s losing 0-5, the Diamonds losing 2-8, the Royals losing 1-5 & the Saracens losing 0-11! However, there was another bit of good news as the 3s drew 2-2 with top of the table Southgate (who have yet to lose a match!).

Headlines from the Womens section were grabbed by both the 4s & 6s who completed convincing wins against their opposition. Unfortunately, all the other sides lost.

Two HA Trophy games were played today but unfortunately neither went the way of the home sides. The W1s took on Teddington in Round 3 and lost by a solitary goal, while the Mixed team played against Horsham in Round 1 and lost 1-4.

Womens 4s thrash Richmond...

For the second week running a THD team has gone into overdrive when scoring against their opposition. This week was the turn of the Womens 4s to stick 6 past a hapless Richmond.

In the Mens section the 2s recorded another win to ease their relegation fears. The 3s got a 3-3 score draw but both the Diamonds and the Saracens lost. Neither the Tornados nor the 1s played with the former on a rest week and the latter's game was cancelled due to weather.

The Womens 1s restarted their league campaign with a win but both of the 2s & 6s lost. The 3s were on a rest week.

The Dragons were also back in action this weekend but, unfortunately, despite taking a 1-0 lead, the slipped to a 3-1 defeat. Next weekend sees the return of the HA Trophy where the mixed team will take on Horsham in the first round at Dulwich College.

Goals, goals & more goals...

Goals, goals & more goals...

A staggering 33 goals were scored by Tulse Hill & Dulwich this weekend with the standout results being the Womens 3s 8-0 win over Old Georgians & the Mens 3s 6-0 win over Reading.

News from the Mens section was very positive as well with the 1s, 2s & Diamonds also recordings wins but not quite as emphatic as the 3s. Both the Tornados & Royals drew against their opposition while the Saracens lost 6-1 despite a very good second half performance.

The remaining matches in the Womens section also saw a win for the 2s - to ease their relegation fears - as well as a win for the 4s. Unfortunately the Womens 6s took a bit of a pasting at 1-7 but they played a stormer against a team top of league with 80 odd goals and no losses under their belt. Neither the 1s nor the 5s played.

Back with a whimper...

With the weather still a factor, THD managed to complete 8 of its 10 scheduled games. Although many of the teams playing will probably have preferred to have had the game cancelled than play in freezing rain! Results weren't too bright either!

However, the lower end of the club did THD proud with superb play by the Womens 6s and a great performance from the Royals givng them both convincing wins over their opponents.

Of the other matches played only the Mens 3 & Womens 4s managed to get any points - with the latter coming back from 0-2 down to draw 2-2. Unfortunately, the M1s, 2s, Tornados & Diamonds all lost their encounters.

Both the Womens 2s & Saracens matches were cancelled due to weather.

Snow disrupts hockey...

With most of the country under snow since well before Xmas it looks like there will be further disruption to hockey as the astroturfs remain blanketed.

It is hoped that by the following weekend the snow will have cleared and the temperature risen so that the 'all weather' pitches will be once again be available for matches.

THD are in currently in discussion with the various leagues with respect to the rescheduling of games and to see if additional slip dates can be agreed to avoid teams having to play both Saturday & Sundays towards the end of the season. For more details please contact your captain.

Mens 1s break away hoodoo...

Almost the last weekend of action for THD saw the Mens 1s break their away form hoodoo - having only managed something like 1 point from 54 available on their travels before Saturday - they put that ghost to rest by winning 2-1 away to Banbury.

All other teams were in action in the Mens Section too with only the Tornados recording a win. Both the 2s & 3s slipped up to a solitary goal where as the Diamonds were on the wrong end of a 10 goal thriller finishing 4-6. Unfortunately, both the Royals & the Saracens took a bit of a beating at 0-7 & 0-8 respectively.

Most the Womens sides had no games this weekend as they had broken for Xmas already but there were a few in action. The W1s were at an indoor tournament in East Grinstead where they came away with 2 wins from 5. The 3s lost out in their match 1-5 to Old Cranleighans.

On Sunday the Dragons took on London Eds for their last match in 2009 which was a rather relaxed affair. The Dragons always held the lead during the high scoring match to win out eventual winners 7-5.

THD start to see the points...

After a couple of torrid weekends, Tulse Hill & Dulwich teams are now back in the points. The Tornados got back to winning ways as did the Womens 3s and the Saracens - unfortunately the latter did so against the Royals.

The remaining games in the Mens Section saw some very interesting results - both caused by very controversial umpiring at Old Loughts. A disallowed goal and an endless succession of penalty corners saw both the 3s & the Diamonds have a winning position turned into a draw. The 2s were edged out by their league leaders as were the 1s against Maidstone.

Elsewhere in the Womens Section the 2s were carrying the flag - as the 1s had already stopped for the Xmas break - but they couldn't break down a very stubborn Cheam side and slipped to a 1-0 defeat. Both the 4s & 6s earned creditable draws while the 5s got a bit of a pasting.

No mixed or HA Trophy action this weekend. The Dragons return next Sunday against Eds for their last match in 2009 and the next HA Trophy fixtues are in early February 2010.
