21-Jun-09THD Launches New Club Kit...
For the start of the new season Tulse Hill & Dulwich Hockey Club have launched a new kit. After 7 or so years the current club kit has a number of different 'versions' that means that many of the teams take to the pitch with a collection of different tops. In addition to the this the club wanted to ensure that there was official kit for both away matches and mixed games.
The new kit will still continue to combine the best of the old Tulse Hill HC & the old Dulwich HC kit - therefor still featuring both red & green. The main changes will be that the women's sides will change green shorts/skirts to match the colour worn by the mens sides and the Mens 1s will no longer wear a different designed shirt to the rest of the club.
The new kit is optional for the 2009/10 season (although the old style kit is no longer being sold) and will become compulsory from the start of the 2010/11 season. In the meantime the kit is discounted until the end of 2009 to encourage people to make the switch as soon as possible. Any new players to the club will only have the option of purchasing the new kit.
In addition to the playing kit there is a range of other Tulse Hill & Dulwich branded clothing available too.

19-May-09THD launched on twitter...
The hockey club has gone one step futher (technically) and launched a twitter account to work hand in hand with the Facebook account. This way, as well as using Facebook to show all the upcoming events, the club can also use twitter - which can be shared account for a number of the club officers - to keep you updated on what is happening in the club right as it happens!
Up until now any news items have been limited to html that is written and then ftp'd to the webserver. With Twitter there can now be real time adverts via sms, web or email completed by a number of different users.
At the moment those who will access to the twitter news feed will be Mark Jones, Linds McLaren, Lucy Snell, Tim Sylvester, Aidan Brock, Claire Perrott and Ram.
So if you have any breaking news then let one of the above know and they can 'twitter' it direct onto the news pages! |

12-May-09West Hampstead turned over in nervy friendly...
In a nervy evening friendly at Dulwich College on Tuesday night a mixed strength Dragons made up with 6 members of the Tornados took on an invitational mixed team from West Hampstead Hockey Club in the first of two summer fixtures. THD raced away in the first half taking the lead early on and doubling that lead shortly after. They scored again prior to the break making it 3-0.
In a vastly different 2nd half - which was counterpointed by some dubious incidents both in front of goal and with the taking of a short corner - West Hampstead stepped up a gear while THD at times just coasted. With West Hampstead scoring twice in the second half and then hitting the post in the closing minutes they will have left contemplating a string of attempts on goal that came to nothing.
With THD winning the first of the two fixtures 3-2 there will be all to play for in the return leg at West Hampstead on the 15th of July. |

26-Apr-09Mixed Trophy team halted at quarter-finals...
The mixed team in the HA National Trophy have finally had their cup run halted. Having made easy work of many teams in the earlier rounds they came up against Phoenix - the team responsible for knocking out the Dragons in 05/06, who went on to win the Trophy that year. Unfortunately, history repeated itself an Phoenix ran out winners again. This time by 6-4 as opposed to 8-4 in the previous encounter (although that was against only 10 players!).
That said, a quarter-final place is still something of note and it is hoped that the team - should they chose to enter again next year - will be able to kick on from here and reach the latter stages of the competition in 09/10. |

05-Apr-09Dragons march on...
Sunday saw the Dragons progress to the HA Trophy Quarter-Finals with a spirited 6-3 win over Dereham. The next round will be on 26-April.
The only scheduled games to be played in the Mens leagues were the Divisional Cup Semi-Finals in which both the 2s & Tornados were involved. Unfortunately, neither were able to reach finals day as the Tornados were beaten 2-1 by league champions PHC CHiswick and the 2s were unable to raise a side.
The was a lot more action in the Womens section with four teams in action on the Saturday and one on Sunday. Saturday saw wins for the 2s, 3s & 6s, with on the 4s failing to secure maximum points. The reult from Sunday's match involving the Womens 5s saw them lose to Bank of England 5-1. |

29-Mar-09Mens 2s Promoted as Div 2 Champions...
Leaving it to the final day of the league, finally the Mens 2s are crowned as Division 2 Champions are a promoted to Div 1. A nervy 2-1 win ensured they remained top and with Southgate beating Wimbledon on Sunday the top spot was assured for THD.
Other good news in the Mens section saw the 3s avoid relegation by a win on the final day and the Royals also finish their season with a win. The Diamond completed their league fixtures with a win on Sunday. Unfortunately, the 1s lost 3-4 on both Sat & Sun but as safety had been guaranteed the previous week these result had little impact for THD. The Tornados aren't in action until next weekend when both them & the 2s take part in the Divisional play-offs.
The news in the Womens section was less exciting with four draws from 5 matches - two 0-0s for the 2s & 3s and two 1-1s for the 1s & 4s. The fifth result was a loss for the 6s.
There was no mixed hockey this weekend. League hockey has finished & the mixed Trophy team aren't due to play their next round until Sunday 05-April. |

22-Mar-09Mens 1s safe & 3s nearly safe...
Safety is secured for the Mens 1s with a point at Ashford but the Mens 2s will have to wait another week for promotions when they were upset 1-4 away from home by Indian Gym. The Mens 3s also eased relegation fears by beating St Albans and need only a point in their last game to survive.
The remainder of the Mens teams - the Tornados, Diamonds & Royals - all ended up with a weekend off. The Tornados got a walkover when Reading cancelled late Friday evening, while neither of the Diamonds not the Royals had a scheduled match this weekend.
The Womens 1s kept up pressure on the top with a 7-2 win but this was eclipsed by a staggering 10-0 win for the Womens 3s. The Womens 2s had a double header weekend in which they came away with 3 points.
Amongst the other womens' teams the 4s - buoyed up with members of the 5s - drew 2-2 against the league's bottom team. Having already been relegated, the 5s chose to throw their game to ensure that the 4s - who were decimated by both injuries & holidays - had enough players to fulfil their fixture. The 6s ran out 1-0 winners against a strong UCL team.
There was no mixed hockey this weekend as the Dragons league fixtures are now all completed and the mixed Trophy team aren't due to play their next round until Sunday 05-April. |

15-Mar-09Massive weekend gives massive hope...
In the most exciting climax to a season ever THD still has so much to be decided in only a few remaining weeks. The Mens 1s won again to leave themselves 5pts above the relegation spot with only three games to play. The Womens 1s also won which keeps their promotion hopes alive. Additionally a win for the Mens 2s means they are 3pts away from being guaranteed promotion. Also 3pts from 6 over the weekend for the Mens 3s means that the can still avoid relegation.
The remaining games in the Mens section saw the Diamonds claim safety in Div 5 and the Tornados secure the last cup spot without either having to play! A walkover by Old Loughts to the Diamonds gave them the 3pts needed for safety and ensured that they could no longer overtake the Tornados. Unfortunately, the Royals were edged out 2-1 for the second week running.
Other matches in the Womens section saw a 4-0 drubbing handed out by the 2s which keeps their promotion hopes alive. The Womens 3s had a rest week, while the 4s took the league leaders to a hard fought score draw. Unfortunately both the 5s & 6s were beaten.
Sunday saw both mixed teams in actions with the Trophy team winning 1-0 to progress to the next round while the Dragons won 3-2 to finish off the league in style. |

08-Mar-09End of the road...
Normally at this time of year most teams would be contemplating an end of their legaue campaigns and a summer relaxing but with the inclement weather causing havoc with 2009s fixtures some teams have more than four games still left to play.
In the battle of the sexes the women just edged it with the top three sides all winning followed by the Womens 1s winning again on Sunday. The Womens 4s followed up on their impressive back to back wins last week with a draw this weekend but unfortunately both the 5s & 6s won.
There was still good news over in the Mens section with the 2s edging their encounter 1-0 while the 3s had a victory snatached at the death to become only a draw. The Tornados turned over Spencer away which means a win next week will guarantee them a cup placing. Unfortunately the 1s took an expected beating away to high-flying Fareham while the Diamonds self-destructed to hand a flattering 4-0 win to Indian Gymkhana. The Royals also lost.
No matches for the Dragons this week but next weekend sees both League and Trophy matches. |
