Womens 6s Match Reports
So let me set the scene, go back to Saturday 21st November 2009, it was a sunny, clear beautiful November morning when we made our way to Barnes for our normal feisty match against BoE. Then there was a trip and a crack and the air turned blue for a while One broken wrist with a 2 night stay in hospital, a fantastic scar and the ability to set off the security alarms at airports for the rest of my life. These are now the grudge matches of the season. We turned up this Saturday ready for battle. It's fair to say the first half was not good. They had all the possession and chances, there was usual injury, with Ali taking a ball to the head but we managed to cling on thanks to some fantastic keeping from Charlotte. Half time came around and it was either the restorative power of the jelly babies, or the rousing team talk by Maddy, or the fact that we had sweated out some of the alcohol by then, but we were like a new team in the second half. The passing picked up and we managed to break down their play and irritate them. Beautiful. And that's when the magic happened. A great cross in from the right by Chilly to Tessa on top D and a strike towards goal, and there I was ready for the rebound off the keepers foot for either an amazing reverse stick strike into the top right hand corner of the goal, or a scrappy little bundle over the line - you decide, but the keeper was at least a foot taller than me and twice as wide. By this point we had control of the game and a series of short corners followed when Sinead slotted home a fabulous strike from top D. This game was getting fun, BoE were getting increasingly riled and thanks go to Ferret and Clare for keeping control of the match. We were all winning at life that day and this set us up nicely for the fancy dress party and many games of beer pong. Bring on March. (JB)

Umpires: Ferret, Clare M
The last time we met this team there was screaming, a bit of pushing, sticks thrown and the umpire surrendering his whistle so I'm happy to say this match wasn't nearly as eventful! Andrea was also pleased the other ref was a fellow South African so we all knew it'd be a no-nonsense match, after all we're all just here to play hockey
We had a cracking first 10 minutes with Tess and Kate working the centre and right wing beautifully. Sadly though the next 20 minutes seemed to seal our fate for the rest of the match with the opposition getting two goals which can be aptly named Danni and Tulisa:
- Danni (their first goal) - a faultless, classy and respectable goal that we were all secretly applauding on the inside
- Tulisa (their second goal) - a sloppy goal that took us by surprise and should never have really happened and made us all cringe a little
The second half was a different story, everyone went out and gave it their best and worked really hard to keep the score at 2-0. Despite being hungover Sinead had a top game and her hit was back, and special credit/mention to Jules who didn't stop moving for 70minutes while she marked number 3.
Although we didn't win everyone worked hard and played well and should still be happy with the result. (BE)

We soon showed our strength moving up the pitch with good passes and good running and it wasnt long before Tessa scored her first goal for THD!!
We started with the ball in the second half and had some good play but unfortunately failed to convert this into goals. The opposition in the second half were more attacking and had several short corner attempts non of which converted to goals due to some brilliant running out by Maddy and some solid goalkeeping by Charlotte. However, with about 1 minute to go one of the oppposition forwards pounced on a loose ball in the D and from very close range scored.

WE WON! I SCORED MY FIRST GOAL EVER! Knew I had been wasted in defence all these years. Oh
and Bridget scored 2 as well. With no goalie, a new team to the league and two losses so far this
season we were unsure how the game would go. Turns out hangovers and colds work out quite well.
