Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Where do you play?
We play at three locations. Dulwich College, James Allen's Girls' School and Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. All our games are played on sand based astros. All three venues are within 10 minutes drive of the clubhouse and maps/directions can be found in the Clubhouse section.
Where's your clubhouse?
Our clubhouse is based on the edge of Dulwich Village/Herne Hill, just off Burbage Road. See maps. We share our clubhouse with the squash, tennis, croquet and cricket sections. Hot teas are always served back at the clubhouse after games.
How many teams do you have?
We have 6 men's sides, 6 women's sides, a mixed side and a number of academy (junior) sides which cover most abilities. Both the mens 1s and womens 1s play in the South Leagues. The remaining mens sides play at all levels of the London League and the women play at all levels of the Surrey League. We also have women's veterans and indoor sides.
I can't play every week, is that a problem?
Although the "senior" teams tend to have people who play every week, some people can't commit to every Saturday so end up playing maybe 2 or 3 weeks out of four. There are some people who play even less.
I would like to play but haven't played for a while.
Not a problem - we cater for most abilities and a lot of people come to us who haven't played since school or Uni. We have also taken on complete beginners in the past.
What are your subs?
Most members pay through a standing order system. This covers subs, match
fees (including teas) and training fees paid in five payments across the
season. The total cost for the 2007/08 is £310 (with a surcharge for members
of the 1st and 2nd XIs). Alternatively members can pay a one-off subscriptions
fee of £185.00 plus £10 per game, but if you are going to play more than
13 games a season it makes sense to pay by standing order. Although that
might sound high in terms of cost, it is comparable to other clubs across
south London. Discounts are available for students, school children and
the unemployed. For further details, see fees.
How do I get kit?
We play in red shirts with green shoulders/trim, blue skirts/shorts and red/green hooped socks. Kit is co-ordinated centrally and we have other Tulse Hill & Dulwich branded clothing available. For more details, check the kit page section.
