28th Jan - W7s won 2-0 against Remnants!

On Saturday 28th of Jan, our ladies 7s have won against Remnants 2-nil, moving back from the bottom to the middle of the London 6 East Division!

Notwithstanding a Team made of mostly new members, including players new to Hockey, or coming back to Hockey after many years or 5 months of injury, the 7s played well together, and fought until the end!

... while the Remnants Team dedicated their focus to a long mantra of complaints against the umpires (volunteers from HAC HC).

Yes, unfortunately even in the 6E Division, we have Teams who believe umpires can be BIAS and steal their deserved victory, even when the team in question couln't even hold a ball or run at the speed of the 7s injured players (oh well!).

The 7s started the match with good pressing and kept the Remnants under pressure in their half of the pitch, until Amanda scored the first goal of the 7s, at about 15'. In the first half of the match, the Remnant only got to enter the 7s D and hit the ball to the goal once but didnt get through the 7s GK (who was likely still awake at that point, after 25 minutes on her own!).

The second half of the match the Remnants escalated on their rough play trying to pass through the 7s defence and the tension raised sharpily between the two teams, as umpires struggled to follow and pick up on the numerous stick tackes, obstructions and feets on both sides. Towards the end of the match, the 7s scored their second goal thanks to a penalty corner, and a great scoop of Cecily.
