Sunday 30-Oct-05Stormy weather...
While the sun was shining it was a stormy weekend on the pitch. Seven losses out of 12 games heralded a poor weekend for the club. In the remaining games there were 6 wins & 1 draw.
On the plus side both the Dragons & the Diamonds continued their early season form to record impressive wins. The Tornados were denied an away win by some very questionable umpiring but T5 & the womens 2s both managed to overpower their opponents.
The Mens 1s slipped to their second successive week of losing 4-1, while the Womens 1s threw away a 2 goal lead to lose 3-2. Elsewhere the Royals shipped another 6 goals to add to the 8 they let in last week. |

Sunday 23-Oct-05Unbeaten run runs out!
Both the Royals & the Diamonds lost their matches at the weekend and their unbeaten runs as well into the bargain. The Mens 3s notched up another win to keep their league unbeaten run and their place at the top of their division. The Mens 1s lost away to Fareham and the Tornados ground out a credible win against Wayfarers.
A very quiet week for the women's section with only the 3s playing a league fixture. That ended in stalemate at 1-1.
Sunday saw another win notched up for the Dragons as they posted a 3-1 win against the Optimists. |

Sunday 16-Oct-05Maidenhead Massacre
Not a great day to be a Maidenhead player! The Mens section ripped the heart out the hapless West Londoners with 4 wins out of 5 matches! Only the Mens 2s failed to win their encounter, while the Tornados & the 1s each notched up ther first wins of the season.
Sadly the news was not so great within the Women's section with only the Womens 3s to come away with a win. The other 4 teams playing all lost their games without even a consolation goal.
Sunday saw another storming win for the Dragons as they came back from 2-1 down to win 4-2. A superb turnout from the club - especially as it was the morning after the Awards Dinner - that saw a 16 person squad including members from the Mens 1s, 2s, 3s, Tornados, Royals, Womens 1s, 2s, 3s & 6s! How's that for integration!!! |

Sunday 09-Oct-05Diamonds by name...
...and Diamonds by nature. The Mens 5s record their third win on the trot to place themselves top of their table with 2 points on second place. The eagerly awaited intra-club match of Tornados vs Royals saw the lower team gain a very good value win.
In the Women's section the 1s stormed to another win, the 2s got their first league win and the Womens 4s record their first win in two seasons!
The other club results saw the Mens 1s slump to their second consecutive league loss and the Womens 3s throw away a one-goal lead in their match to end up on the wrong side of a 3-1 beating. The Mens 2s fought bravely against a strong Beckenham & Bromely side but ultimately lost to a freak defelection that lobbed the keeper. And finally, both the Womens 5s & 6s got turned over away from home. |

Sunday 02-Oct-05Week two draws to a close...
There was virtually a full-progam of matches this weekend, as everyone (except the Womens 3s & the Royals) took to the pitches... and, overall, the results are beginning to improve - four wins and three draws. However, the senior sides didn't fare too well with only the Womens 1s winning their encounter.
Both the Mens 3s & the Diamonds won again to maintain their 100% record, whereas the Tornados took a point off last season's League Champions - Wimbledon.
In the Womens section - the 1s had a convincing 4-0 win over Basingstoke, while both the 2s & the 6s took a five-goal thumping. The 4s drew to get their first points of the season (and equalling 50% of last season's total points!) and T5 could also only manage a draw.
Sunday saw a very strong Dragons team wipe the floor with a one-sexed(!) UCL mixed side - running out as 6-2 winners. |

Sunday 25-Sep-05First League Fixtures Played...
Saturday 24-Sep brought about the first league fixtures of the season for most of the club's teams. After some mixed results in the pre-season friendlies the club has started the season with a bit of a wobble. The majority of teams lost at the weekend, leaving only a handful of teams getting any points.
In the Men's section only the 3s managed a win - largely to a hat-trick from James Huntley, although the Royals did come away with a point from their draw and the 5s got maximum points when St Albans conceeded after failing to raise a side.
In the Women's section there were wins at the lower end of the club with points picked up for both the 5s & 6s but sadly every other team got beaten.
A full round up of match reports are available in the Tulse Hill & Dulwich Tribune - Issue 01. |

Sunday 18-Sep-05Pre-season round up.
The pre-season bandwagon started rolling and nearly all teams were in action this weekend. A real mixed collection of results for the club - but some really good signs that this season could be the best yet!
The Mens 2-6s were all in action against Hampstead & Westminster sides. Only the Royals won their encounter but the THD sides can take heart in the fact that H&W start their pre-season much earlier. There were certainly some very good signs during the games and it is good to experience a 'serious' match prior to the London League starting. Elsewhere the Mens 1s were turned over 4-0 by Beckenham & Bromley.
The Womens section did fair a little better, both the 1s & the 5s managed to record wins. The 2s & 3s narrowly lost by goal, but the Womens 6s took a bit of a spanking against a two-leagues-higher Shirley side. The Womens 4s have to wait until next week to start their season. |

Sunday 11-Sep-05Dragons walk Strollers!
The Dragons ran out comfortable winners against the London Strollers 4-2. With goals from Gemma Baker (2), Nick Jacob & Liz Young. A solid team performance in which everyone contributed. A good start to the season - which kicks off at Battersea park on 25-Oct vs Sinners.
The preparation for the game could have been better though - with 50% of the team caught in traffic and one player going to Battersea Park instead of Raynes Park - the Dragons just managed to get 11 players there by pushback! It only took seconds for the team to settle - despite four players making their debuts. Two well taken goals from shorts, a screamer that nearly ripped out the net and a well placed clinical strike put the game beyond doubt. In fact in the dying minutes there was nearly a fifth goal but Coops was unlucky to have his effort disallowed. The game was a pleasure to play and, according to the spectators, a pleasure to watch.
Team: Jeremy Porter (GK), MJ, Nick Thomson, Lee Snowden, James Perrott, Nick Jacob, Mark Annear, Ian Cooper, Gemma Baker, Michelle Morgan, Lucy Muldoon, Sara Longair, Liz Young & Claire Whitehead. |

Saturday 10-Sep-05Trials a Success!
There was a massive turn out at trials for both the men's & women's sections. Over 30 new players have joined the club.
Any new player that hasn't heard about a game for this coming weekend should either contact Aidan Brock (men) or Jo Malkin (women).
A big thank you to all involved in setting up the day... and extra thanks to Chris Richman, Snowy & Aidan Brock for running th BBQ. |
