Wednesday 16-Aug-06Trials, Training & Teeth
Trials are fast approaching in September and the date for training to begin has also been set. Please make sure that keep checking your emails and the website so you know what is going on.
In addition there will be someone at the clubhouse on trials day to measure you up for a mouthguard should you fancy protecting your pearlies! More details below...
Trials (02-Sep 1100-1400) & BBQ (Clubhouse 1500)The moment of truth is almost here... as each year goes by the trials get more and more competitive. Bearing in mind that often, by Christmas, we have to close membership as we have too many people, it makes sense to try and impress your captains early doors. There's always room for improvement and using the Mens section as an example... with 3 of the Mens teams either getting promoted or just missing out last season... its a brave person who misses out!
Mens Trials - James Allen Girls School
Followed by a BBQ back at the clubhouse... all welcome - bar is open! Still to be confirmed but we hope to be able to offer a limited amount of kit for sale at the clubhouse after trials.
TrainingThe club runs five training sessions a week. The sessions are split into senior Mens (1s/2s), senior Womens (1s/2s), Men's Club Training (3s/4s/5s/6s), Women's Club Training (3s/4s/5s/6s) and Academy (Juniors). Training starts in the first week of September for the club sides and for the senior sides it starts in August - 29th for the Men and 30th for the Women. See the Training page for more info...
Teeth - MouthgardsThe club has organised for a specialist company (Opro) to come down and offer mouthguards for those that are interested.....
A team of theirs will come down on Sat 2nd Sept after trials from 3pm, and they'll carry out the fittings at the clubhouse. You can get order forms here, for those that definitely want one, or you can rock up on the day (pre-ordering is best though).
For those who can't make trials, there will be a second fitting on
Sept 16th - dependent upon uptake. |

Thursday 10-Aug-062nd Annual Golf Day - 13th Oct '06
Due to popular demand - THDC presents the club's second golf day on Friday the 13th of October 2006 at Silvermere golf club near Cobham Surrey. Silvermere is 6700 yards Par 73 set amongst both woodland and parkland and several of the holes include pulse quickening water features.
http://www.silvermere-golf.co.uk/Silvermere-Surrey-Golf-Course.htm
The final two holes of the course are played around and over a lake with the final hole requiring the second shot to hit a brilliant island green bang in front of the spectator friendly clubhouse bar - Obviously the last groups to go will have an audience watching (no pressure).
The format of the day will consist of:
Arrival 09:00-09:30
All this for £47 (Includes all prize money)
We will be playing in a Stableford format with Max handicaps 28 for the guys and 36 for the girls. We will be playing in groups of 4 in pairs and there will be serious awards (Trophies and golf prizes) for highest scoring pair, highest scoring individual, longest drive (on fairway) and nearest the pin (on green). There will also be a couple of extras for worst approach to the 18th green and probably worst dressed or worst display of golfing etiquette (yet to be decided). In addition, side bets in the pairs matches are always encouraged.
Make up of the Fourballs will be decided at random although if people
want to play together I can sort it out.
Closing date for entry is Friday the 1st of September
- please review your diaries and book the day off now! |
