National Volunteering Survey...

National Volunteering Survey...

England Hockey are compiling a National Volunteering Survey, they have had a great response so far but are looking for more people to take part. So far early results suggest that participation in volunteering seems to be up amongst women, and there also seems to be an increase in under 18s entering into volunteering.

If you have not yet completed the survey, please help to give a representative view of volunteering in hockey by clicking the link below, and taking part! It takes approximately 3-6 minutes to complete, and you can come back to it at anytime. The survey can be anonymous if you wish, but if you would like to be sent the findings of the survey later in the spring, please provide us with your name and address.

The survey is due to end on the 25th January.

Bore score draws...

Bore score draws...

The weekend's games were like a cowboy shootout... with everybody drawing! In addition the Mens 1s continue their promotion challenge with another away win.

The remainder of the Men's section saw the two get yet another draw and the 3s win. However the Tornados, Diamonds and Royals all lost their first games of 2008.

The Womens 1s won in their friendly match where as the 2s, 4s & 6s all drew 1-1. Of the remaining two teams the 3s lost and T5 won.

Sunday, saw the Dragons return to action and also draw with a last ditch goal in the final minute.

The final games for 2007...

Saturday 15-Dec-07

The final games for 2007...

Firstly, a Merry Xmas & Happy New Year to all from Tulse Hill & Dulwich Hockey Club.

The last few games before Xmas saw only a little Xmas cheer for the THD sides. The headlines were taken by the womens 2s & 3s who both recorded 3-0 wins.

Sadly the remaining team in action - namely the Mens 3s, Womens 5s & 6s - all lost their various encounters.

Finally, there were a couple of games postponed this weekend due to frozen pitches or unavailability of opposition. So the Mens 2s & Womens 4s will have to play these fixtures in the new year.

Women sweep it clean...

Sunday 09-Dec-07

Women sweep it clean...

All five of the Women's teams in action this weekend won and only one goal was conceded. This leaves all of the sides in the top halves of their respective tables.

The full Women's results were a 4-0 win for the 2s, a 5-0 win for the 3s, a 3-0 win for the 4s and a 3-1 win for the 5s. The 6s got a walkover when their opposition cancelled late on Friday night and the 1s have already broken up for Xmas.

The Men's Section saw only three games being played and each with very different results. The 1s trounced Rover Oxford and put eight past them to no reply! However, both the 2s & 3s lost, with the 2s especially coming up a suspiciously strong 3rd team from Bromley & Beckenham.

The Dragons match on Sunday was cancelled as it proved too difficult to get a team out after the Xmas party!

Bouncebackability...

Sunday 02-Dec-07

Bouncebackability...

After hefty defeats last week both the Mens 3s and Tornados bounced back to secure much needed wins on the road. However, the real news has to be the Womens 5s who thumped their student opposition 10-1.

The Men's Section saw the 1s gain a point against the league leaders and the 2s get their third score draw on the bounce. Not great news for either the Diamonds or the Royals though who both suffered heavy defeats.

The Women's results faired a little better. With the 1s on a break until the new year - the 2s took up the reins and romped to their third win in as many weeks scoring 22 goals in the process. The 6s won again, taking them to 5th in the table. The 4s could only manage a draw though and the 3s suffered another defeat.

The Dragons match on Sunday saw the mixed side edge past a stroppy Optimists side 5-4.

A little bit of everything...

Monday 26-Nov-07

A little bit of everything...

The weekend saw mixed results throughout the club and two double headers with the Womens 1s & Womens 3s playing both Saturday and Sunday.

The Womens 1s won their matches - both league and trophy - where as the Womens 3s sadly lost both their matches. Elsewhere in the Womens Section the 6s continue to impressive with another victory and the 2s drubbed their oppo for the second week running - this time 7-0. The 5s also managed a win but the 4s slipped up 1-0 away.

The Mens Section didn't fair so well with only the 1s and the Diamonds managing to win. The 2s had the second successive week of drawing 3-3 and the 3s, Tornados and Royals all suffered defeats.

Three games were played on Sunday - two have been mentioned above - the remaining game was the Dragons who managed to edge it against a very strong Daquiris side who were resplendant in their new kit!

Honours Even...

Sunday 18-Nov-07

Honours Even...

Following up from a weekend when it seemed there were nothing but wins it is back to earth with a bump. This weekend's games saw a glut of score draws throughout both halves of the club.

The only wins on Saturday came in the Women's Section and there were 4 from 6 of those! Standout performance came from the Women's 2s who racked up 11 goals to only 1 conceded. The 1s won again and the 4s picked up a handy walkover to get them back in contention for promotion.

Three draws and two losses for the Men's Section this week with the 3s taking a break. The 1s were one of the losses which halted their climb up the table and the 2s had to finish early at 3-3 when an over zealous pitch manager finished the game with still 6 minutes on the clock!

On Sunday, the Dragons managed to go one better than a draw and beat the Sinners 3-1 on a cold and miserable wintery pitch in Battersea Park.

Devastating...

Monday 12-Nov-07

Devastating...

It seems that the weekend was not one that you wanted to come up against a THD side as the club was devastating - with the vast majority of teams putting their opposition to the sword.

The Men's Section saw wins for the top four sides a loss for the Diamonds and a postponement for the Royals. Particularly notable was a thrashing handed out by the 1s and a return to form for both the 2s & Tornados.

The Women's Section were equally on song with the 1s winning both in the league and the trophy. Plus the 3s putting 3-0 wins back to back over as many weekends. The 6s built on last week's first win of the season to handed out an 8-0 pummeling to their oppo!

Sunday saw a very hungover Dragons side mis-firing again and they slipped to a 2-4 reverse. A very good spirited game that could have yielded many more goals on either side.

Top Women Win...

Sunday 04-Nov-07

Top Women Win...

The top half of the Women's Section all performed well at the weekend. A narrow 3-2 win for the 1s was backed up with a convincing win for the 3s.

Aside from the wins for both the 1s and the Diamonds the Men's Section news was pretty torrid. The 3s slipped up again and the Royals continue to frustrate. Improvements to the Tornados saw a much better performance but a similar scoreline. The 2s had no match this week.

In the remainder of the Women's Section the 4s were on a rest week. While both the 2s & 5s lost their match the 6s recorded their first win of the season!

In the mixed the Dragons came up against a strong Oldsmiths side and despite having more shots than a vodka bar they slipped to a 4-1 deafeat.
