Level 1 Umpiring Award...

Level 1 Umpiring Award...

This Award is the passport to umpiring competitive hockey in England and is aimed at those who wish to take their umpiring seriously and officiate in local leagues and club gamess/events. The Award involves four hours of classroom tuition, three unsupervised practice games, an examination paper and a practical assessment on an 11 a-side game.

Each County is responsible for it's own register of Level One umpires and courses are regularly organised. Once accredited, Level One Umpires are required to umpire a minimum of five games a year. If they are player umpires, the requirement is reduced to three.

Half & half sees the men seesaw...

Sunday 17-Feb-08

Half & half sees the men seesaw...

The Men's section is a tale of two very different kinds. The 1s, 2s and 3s all won this weekend - extending the 1s lead at the top of their division with a slaughtering of Portsmouth 10-1, while both the 2s & 3s wins ease their relegation woes. From there on the reading becomes slightly less inspiring - The Tornados, Diamonds & Royals all lost.

Very little action in the Women's section this week with most taking a break for half term. But there were a couple of games - the Womens 1s beat Maidenhead by a goal and the 4s lost to Byfleet by the same margin.

Sunday saw the Dragons play an under-strength London Strollers and run out comfortable winners 5-2.

Four celebrations amongst the gloom...

Sunday 10-Feb-08

Four celebrations amongst the gloom...

Red and green are the colours of the club and the colours of the results! No draws this week but 4 green wins amongst the other less celebratory results.

Highlights of the weekend will be the Dragons winning their Round 2 of the HA Trophy away to Addiscombe - despite making hard work of it and taking a golden goal in extra time to secure passage to the next round. Also, the Mens 1s won again to move three points clear at the top of the table. The other two wins of the weekend were the Diamonds and the Womens 5s.

Neither the Mens 2s nor the Womens 4s had games at the weekend and the other seven teams in action all lost.

Men on the march...

Sunday 03-Feb-08

Men on the march...

Wins for both the senior Mens sides sees the 2s ease their relegation troubles, while the 1s increase their chances of promotion.

The remaining Mens sides all lost and the Tornados are now in real danger of relegation. The Womens team see heavy losses for both the 3s and 6s, while the 4s & 5s both secured good wins away.

The Womens 1s were edged out in the league in their fixture against the leaders on Saturday but bounced back from that to secure a convincing win on Sunday in the HA Trophy. They now progress to the quarter-finals in the defence of their 2007 Trophy.

No matches for the Dragons this week but they bounce back into action on 09-Feb in the HA Trophy away to Addiscombe. Also no games for the Royals and the Womens 2s. The Mens 3s game against Maidenhead has been postponed.

It's not tough at the top...

Sunday 27-Jan-08

It's not tough at the top...

It was business as usual for the Mens 1s & the Womens 2s who continue to march on with easy wins against their opposition. However, down at - or near - the bottom of their respective divisions the Mens 2s, Tornados & Royals all continue to struggle.

Results elsewhere in the club weren't too heartening either with only the Womens 5s (win) and the Diamonds (draw) picking up any points. January 2008 doesn't seem to be leaving much to celebrate within the majority of Tulse Hill & Dulwich HC.

The Womens 1s game was postponed and both the Womens & Mens 3s had no game this weekend.

Looking ahead to brighter times... the Womens 1s are in action Sunday (03-Feb) in the HA Trophy at DC and are expected to progress. The following Sunday (10-Feb) sees the Dragons - who won today - start their HA Trophy run away to Addiscombe.

Promotion Potential...

Sunday 20-Jan-08

Promotion Potential...

Big wins for both the Mens 1s and the Womens 2s kept them in the hunt for promotion. Both teams put in highly impressive performances in their respective matches.

Another clutch of score draws this weekend meant that the spoils were shared for Womens 1s, 3s & 4s. Where as the remaining mens' sides who played all saw losses recorded apart from the Royals who managed to secure their second win of the season.

In the remaining two games to mention the Womens 5s lost heavily while the Womens 6s won 3-2. The Tornados had no game this weekend.

Unfortunately the Dragons found themselves opposition-less on Sunday when London Edwardians failed to show.

Kurry-Oke

Wednesday 16-Jan-08

Kurry-Oke... Kancelled...

Unfortunately the hotly anticipated return of Kurry-Oke has had to be put on hold. With the large volumes of people who are away skiing that weekend the club has decided to cancel this event and are currently looking into rescheduling it at some point in the future.

The clubhouse is still booked so it has been suggested to have a general get together with drinking games followed by one of South London's finest clubs for those who are still around...
