29-Nov-09Royals reap rewards...
In what is becoming an unfortunate familiar story the Royals were one of only three teams to take points from this weekend. Not unfortunate for them as the three points take them to 3rd with a real sight of the promotion places.
Apart from the Royals it was another torrid day for the Mens Section with every other team losing to their opposition.
The news in the Womens Section wasn't much better with no wins whatsoever. There were, however, well worked draws for both the 3s & 6s.
The Womens 1s progress to the next round of the cup without even having to hit a ball as Banbury concede the cup fixture. Meanwhile the Dragons soundly beat an understrength and undermanned Spencer in the Mixed League. |

22-Nov-09Two or three or three or two...
It was one of those weekends where the numbers are just strange. Six of the ten Saturday games ended 2-3 or 3-2! Unfortunately, out of those six games only one was in favour of THD - with only the Womens 2s winning theire 3-2 encounter.
In the Mens section there was onlt one positive result with the M1s winning 3-1 against table-toppers Staines. The remainder of teams in action lost, which included the Tornados undefeated run coming to an end. Neither the Diamonds nor the Saracens were in action on Sat.
The Womens section had two wins - for the W2s & the W3s - plus a draw for the W5s. The 1s, 4s & 6s all lost.
The Dragons were also in action again this weekend with an 8-3 drubbing of old Mid Whitgiftians at Dulwich College.
In addition to the normal Saturday matches, next weekend sees the W1s back in HA Trophy action and the Dragons back to playing in the Battersea League. |

15-Nov-09Bad weather doesn't stop play...
Despite the 'worst' weather this century there was a full programme of matches this weekend and most teams were in action. Highlights from the weekend - and sadly there were very few - were the 'mugging' of Hampstead & Westminster away by the Mens 2s, the destruction of Blackheath Heathens away by the Tornados & the just- scraped win against Wanderers Daquiris by the Dragons.
Sadly, outside of these highlights only one other team managed any points at the weekend. The Womens 3s managed to fight out a 2-2 draw against an aggressive and overbearing Suribiton to get their second week of points in a row. For the remainder of the teams the results were as bleak as the weather as THD struggled to overcome their respective oppositions.
Next week promises to be better in both results and climate! Beware the THD backlash! |

09-Nov-09Womens 3s win (at last)...
After weeks of threatening to win the Womens 3s have finally turned in a 3-point performance. Having gone down a goal early they fought back and then took the lead. Despite an onslaught in the 2nd half they remained strong to close out the match as winners. The Mens 1s also notched a very important 3-2 win against Oxford University.
The Mens section fared a bit better than the Womens by recording 4 wins and a draw to their 1 win & 1 draw. Another win for the Tornados took them to top of the table, while the Diamonds also won in Div 5. The Royals dispatched their oppo while the 2s gave a sloppy goal away to draw with Chelmsford. Both the 3s & Saracens lost with the latter playing with only 10 men after a no-show.
The highlights of the Womens section we the 3s as mentioned above and the 5s earning a draw against Woking. Unfortunately all the other sides lost.
Sunday was a busy day for the club with both the Womens 1s & The Dragons in action. The Dragons took on a well drilled UCL and some slick passing & general all-round awesomeness saw them come from a goal behind to win 4-2. The women made much harder work of it in their Trophy match vs. Henley. Taking it down to the wire to finally win 1-0 after extra time. |

01-Nov-09Tornados still undefeated...
Five games into the season and another win on the books sees the Tornados still undefeated in their quest for promotion from Div 5. A 4-1 trouncing of Wimbledon saw them move to 2nd in the table with a game in hand.
In the Womens section this week there were wins for both the 4s & 5s but unfortunately that was where the good news ended with the 2s, 3s & 6s all losing. The 1s weren't in action this week.
The news from the mens section was a little better with wins for both the 2s & Saracens to add to the win for the Tornados. However, none of the 1s, 3s & Royals could secure any points, but the Diamonds managed to grab a draw against Richmond.
The Dragons weren't in action this weekend but return to Battersea on the 8th against UCL. |

26-Oct-09W1s thrash Sunbury...
The Women's 1s strode back to winning ways with a systematic demolition of Sunbury. A win which means that they sit two points off first place and have still yet to lose a match!
With the rest of the women's sides on a rest week this week all the remaining Saturday action was from the Men's teams.
Highlight of the Men's results was another pasting for Reading with the 3s taking them to pieces in Reading for an impressive 4-2 win. The Royals also managed to edge past Southgate 3-2. Unfortunately the 1s, 2s, Diamonds & Saracens all lost while the Tornados were on a rest week.
The Dragons were finally back in action at the weekend against a goalkeeper-less Sinners. Despite taking the lead twice, a combination of not being allowed to strike at a keeper-less goal and some slack defending saw the game end honours even. |

18-Oct-09Reading Revenge...
After the mauling the M1s took in the HA Cup against reading a few weeks ago there was a chance for THD to gain back some pride with three teams in action against Reading sides at the weekend. From a possible 9 points on offer, THD took 7! With the M2s & Tornados both winning while the 3s secured a nervy 0-0 draw.
Elsewhere in the Mens section the Diamonds beat Wimbledon away in a 10 goal thriller - walking out 6-4 winners. The Royals vs. Saracens Div 7 clash saw the latter lose the game and, with it, their unbeaten record.
The Women's section the results were pretty disappointing with only the W4s managing a win. The only other point taken was the W1s with a draw against 2nd from bottom Sunbury. All the other sides lost.
The Dragons weren't in action this weekend but return to Battersea on the 25th against Wanderers Sinners. |

13-Oct-09Saracens unbeaten - new boys rock Div 7...
The newest team at THD are rather taking their division by storm with 3 wins from three! The newly formed Mens 7s - or Saracens - have benefitted from an influx of new players that have fitted together well for the first few weeks. A sound beating of Richmond at the weekend showed they are a force to be reckoned with.
Elsewhere in the Mens section the 1s put in an uncharacteristic performance to lose 3-0, while both the 2s and 3s both lost by a one goal margin. The Tornados drew 2-2 for the 2nd successive week and, while the Diamonds were soundly beaten away to Reading, the Royals benefitted from a last minute cancellation by Indian Gym (who now face a points deduction!) to claim a walkover.
The Womens section saw the 1s win with a late winner, while the 2s were upset by a single strike from Wanderers. The 3s lost 2-0 for the second time this season, however, both the 4s & 5s recorded emphatic victories of 5-0 & 3-0 respectively. Finally, in Div 8, the 6s took a bit of a mauling from Old Freeman's and lost 1-10.
The Dragons weren't in action this weekend but return to Battersea on the 25th against Wanderers Sinners. |
