Since 2003/04 the club has produced a weekly newsletter, during the season, containing match reports from each of the games played that weekend.
Mon 11-Aug-03Riverside 7s (09/10-Aug-03)
It was the hottest weekend of the year but that didn't stop Tulse Hill & Dulwich HC entering two teams into the 2nd Annual Riverside 7s. Perfect camping weather! A few intrepid people - namely MJ, Marie, Warren, James, Riley & Tom - ventured down on the Friday night to secure the campsite and to try and get as many of the opposition as drunk as possible... ie nobbled for the Saturday games! However, the only thing the team really learnt was to never Warren play drinking games again.. he was total pants!!!
Sunday - both teams qualified for the cup. Everybody was in a mess on the second day, the heat and the alcohol was really taking its toll - especially for those who had to umpire (Simon, MJ, Charley, Pully, Tom). The Hornets team were gifting goals to their opposition with alarming regularity but still smacking them in at the other end - in fact MJ even stole one from Simon after he had nut-megged the keeper! The Dragons just couldn't seem to score on Sunday. Still no-one wanted to play an extra two games and missing out on qualification for the Semi's was no big issue. Mark Pulford was happy as he beat Imma to the Golden Stick award for the tour... and a special mention has to go to Aidan who played in goal for both teams as Lee couldn't make the Sunday.
As the results show, both teams tailed off on the second day due to excessive consumption of alcohol the night before. At least this year there was the excuse of the weather as well... the hottest ever recorded temperatures in the UK! Still this tour was brilliant fun and well worth the effort even in the stifling heat. Whilst both team missed out on any silverware there was a serious result in the Raffle... Marie won the top prize - a coolbox full of Budwiser. Imma won a crate of Bud Ice & Simon Riley won a bottle of champagne which he kindly donated to MJ (who'd had his bottle stolen over the weekend!). A great weekend all round that saw both teams playing truly good hockey and teaching a few opposition teams that you can have fun when you are on tour... it isn't just about winning... at least not the hockey!!!
